I’m obsessed with what I got in my Stitch Fix Subscription Box this month! Check out the cute clothes I received and what I like about them.
July 2014 Stitch Fix Review
I am so excited about today’s Stitch Fix review! No, there’s no recipe. But please don’t let that scare you off! Today is all about the clothes! Another of my great loves. 🙂
I have loved the concept of Stitch Fix ever since I first saw it, it just took me a while to finally do it. My friend, Ashley from Spoonful of Flavor, finally convinced me with her awesome reviews and the super cute stuff she was wearing at BlogHer Food in May – ALL from Stitch Fix!
So I finally signed up, and I’m sharing it all with you! The hubs even took pictures of me in everything – eek! I have loved reading others’ reviews so much, I’ve been dying to share mine with you. I hope you think it’s as fun as I do!
So what is Stitch Fix?
Well, basically it’s like having your own personal stylist. But better.
More specifically though, it’s a monthly subscription (although you can set it to every other month too). When you sign up, you fill out a profile where you specify all kinds of things like sizes, price, shapes and styles you prefer, colors and patterns you prefer. You can make a pinterest board and link to that so that your stylist can get a feel for what you like. You basically want to provide as much detail as you can so that they can pick stuff to match your style.
Then you pick a date to have your box arrive. You’ll get 5 pieces. It can be clothing and accessories. You pay $20 a month to receive the box and if you decide to keep stuff, the $20 goes towards the purchase of your items. If you keep everything, you get 25% off – score! Plus, if there’s a month that’s not so good and you don’t want a box, you can turn it off for a month – no penalty.
Once you get your box, you have 3 days to try everything on and decide what to keep. This part is my favorite, obviously. They even give you an awesome card that has suggestions on what to pair the items with!
I loved trying every on! I am a shopper. I love it. But recently I feel like the stuff I find in stores is kind of, well, boring. And it’s all the same. And when I do find something unique, everyone else loved it too and my size is gone. AND maybe I love something, but I’m not sure what I have in my closet that will go with it. Well Stitch Fix has solved that problem. They can send super cute, unique things and you get to try everything on with the stuff in your closet. I tried everything on with different bottoms, shoes, jewelry, you name it! It’s dress up for adults. 🙂
Once you’ve decided what to keep, you return the items you don’t want by putting them in the prepaid mailing bag that comes in the box and put it right in the mailbox! You can give them feedback on what you liked and didn’t like to help them send even better stuff in the next box.
Stitch Fix Try-On & Review
It’s an absolutely BRILLIANT concept! I’m 100% in love! So let’s look at what they sent in my first box:
1. Wilam Zig-Zag Print Top from Chris & Carol – $44
I loved this top. It fit well. I love the colors and chevron pattern. The only problem is that I not only have a lot of chevron already, but I also have a lot of this peachy color as well. If it’d been different colors or another pattern, I might have kept it, but instead I sent it back.
2. Ivy Chevron Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse from 41Hawthorne – $48
Also loved this one. I’m totally into this type of top right now and I liked that this one had kind of a v-neck (I think they make me look skinnier 😉 ). It fit well and I thought it’d be good even into fall with the little longer sleeve. But I had the same issue as the first – similar color and pattern. That being said, I almost kept it. Then I decided I’d rather wait for something a little different. Decisions, decisions.
3. Felicia Floral Crochet Fit and Flare Dress from Mystree – $78
I fell in love with this dress as soon as I pulled it out of the box. It’s totally different from anything that I have and exactly something I’d love. Like, perfect. I adore lace and I loved the big and different lace of this. The only thing I wasn’t totally sure about was again, I prefer a little more of a neckline – v-neck, scoop neck, something. I also normally like a little more length. But I overlooked both of those things because I wanted to dance around like a little girl in it.
AND, when the hubs was taking the pictures, he stopped right in the middle to walk towards me and take some close ups. I was all “what are you doing?!” and he gave me that look that says he thinks I’m beautiful and said that that picture was for him. If this dress has that kind of power of him, how could I send it back?! 🙂
4. Dita Colorblock Sleeveless Ponte Dress from 41Hawthorne – $78
This dress surprised me a bit. When I first saw it, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel. The material is a little heavy (rayon fabric) and while I like the colors and generally like color blocking, I wasn’t sure I’d find it flattering on me.
When I put it on, I liked it more than I expected, but still didn’t feel like it really did much to flatter me. Plus, both dress were sleeveless and had the same neckline. I’d rather another dress with some little sleeves maybe. I did like the length of this one a little better though.
5. Wintor Crystal Gem Bracelet from Pixley – $38
This bracelet is seriously beautiful. Every time I see the picture, I wonder if I should have kept it. But I’m really more of a silver gal, despite gold being so on trend right now. Also, I don’t dress up a ton and this felt a little dressy to me. Plus, I tend to be more into necklaces and earrings. So sadly, I sent it back.
So that’s it! I kept the Felicia Floral Crochet Fit and Flare Dress from Mystree, and sent the rest back. Everything fit pretty well – which really surprised me for my first box. I can’t wait to see my next one! They must be super busy, because I won’t get my next box until the beginning of September. How will I wait that long?!
