Hi. I am going to make your cheesecake recipe. Can I double the recipe or would it not get firm enough to support the extra weight? I’m going to slice it up and serve it with a few of your toppings. So this way there will be a few different options for guests 😊

    1. Lindsay

I’m not sure which cheesecake you were referring to, since you commented on a post about my cookbook. But generally speaking, if you double a cheesecake recipe, you would want to split it between two pans. It would be too much batter for one pan.

  2. Karen

I just ordered your cookbook. I’m very excited to receive it and try out the recipes. I have tried several of your recipes online and every one has been delicious!

    1. Lindsay

Awesome! I hope you enjoy it. Thanks so much for supporting my book! I’m glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the recipes you’ve tried.

  3. Czarenna

I saw your recipe for Cherry Chocolate chip cake, and I’m trying it right now..it really smells good. Hope to try your other baking recipes.Thank you for sharing your knowledge and techniques.😊💐

    Hi Lindsay,
Wondering why your recipe for Boston Cream Pie’s Grenache is so different from Boston Cream Pie Cupcakes? Seems like only half choc. Chips for full cake?
    Thanks, Deb

    1. Lindsay

They are used differently. The cupcakes use more ganache because you’re piping a decent amount onto each one, where you’re only pouring a thinner layer on the cake. The cupcakes also need a thicker ganache for piping.

Do you have a Cookbook out of all your cheesecakes? I have made several and I love them. I really enjoy making Cheesecakes because they are just gorgeous and soooooo good and people think they are hard to make. Thank you so much.

  6. Cheryl Bostwick

I just found your web site! It is beautiful and so pleased that you honor the Lord with encouraging scripture! Will bake something today. Thank you!

Tried the vanilla cupcakes, and doubled the recipe. The cupcakes came out great, top nicely flattened, no sinking and the colour was exactly as the photo. I did not get the chance to ice them but my grand daughter and friends enjoyed them. I used some of the mix to make a chocolate cake, only added the cocoa powder the amount used was from one of your chocolate cake recipe, added some mini chocolate chips. This one came out super. Love your recipes, now I do have a go to site. Thanks for sharing.

I live in high altitude (6,000 ft). Would I need to add additional flour and decrease the sugar in the cakes or cookie cakes?

  9. Kobie

Hi I am from South Africa and I just cannot bake a cake it’s always a flop. I tried your vanilla cupcakes and got so many compliments. Thank you for your easy and delicious recipes.

I keep clicking on “Get the Book” but nothing comes up where I can actually order the “Homemade Cakes” book. I am very frustrated. I have been copying and pasting some of your recipes but really want the book. Thank you.

Hi Lindsay, I have made your banana cream pie many times and in my opinion, it’s the very best tasting I’ve ever made! It makes the perfect amount for a deep dish pie. So many other recipes make way less filling and I have to make more to fill up my plate! This is perfect. Besides making my own crust, Pillsbury makes a delicious easy crust that I’ve also used for years and is perfect with this pie. I’m shocked at some other posters that had trouble with any part of this recipe. Mine have consistently turned out beautiful and delicious and I followed your recipe exactly as it is written. Thank you so much… definitely a keeper!

So far, I have saved a lot of your recipes, including the step-by-step cheesecake recipe (the one with the water bath instructions)! I am a baker and decorator of cakes, somewhat past beginner level of decorating (because I need to schedule time for practice regularly), and always looking for great recipes for moist, not dry, and definitely not dense, cakes. Thank you for sharing, I will be getting your book! Count on it!

  13. Amy Kaufman

I see you have a cake cookbook
    I bake more breads
    Cookies
    9×13 cakes
    Fudge
    Etc
Will you have a cookbook leaning more that way?

Hii Lindsay , u r really amazing baker n teacher . I really love Ur videos .baking is my hobby pls tell me how can I get Ur book I m from India.

  20. Cecilia

    Hi Lindsay
I bought your Simply Beautiful Homemade cakes book, you had a lot of good recipes in there. I notice that the recipes that I find on Facebook you do not have in the book
I was very disappointed in not being able to find the recipes I wanted not in it. Do you have any other books with those recipes that I can buy off Amazon. Or maybe you sell them yourself.
    Please get back to me

    1. Lindsay

I’m sorry you were disappointed. I mention in this post that the book includes all new recipes, not things already on the site. Most people actually want to buy recipes that aren’t already available for free. Unfortunately, I don’t have any other books at this time.

  21. Emily H.

I was searching for a buttercream recipe and stumbled across your blog. After trying a couple more recipes, Life, Love & Sugar has been my go to. I just had to buy your cookbook!

  22. SUSIE G.

I’ve made several of your recipes & they’ve turned out great. However, just recently I can’t print/use any recipes because the font is about a 4 & the advertising at the bottom of the first page blocks out several steps. For instance, the Spice Cake recipe’s steps 12-18 are blocked out. I guess I won’t be able to continue receiving the recipes if I don’t have all of the instructions.

    1. Lindsay

Hmm, I’d probably do the caramel coconut filling as a filling in the middle of the cupcakes. Then I might top the cupcakes with caramel frosting (you’d probably need to increase that recipe to cover them all) and then maybe drizzle them with some chocolate ganache. Maybe even add a little toasted coconut to the top for decoration. If you use the full recipe for the cake, you’d probably end up with about 24 cupcakes, so you might also need additional filling. Hard to know for sure without trying it out. I hope that helps!

Hi, Lindsay! Is your book homemade cakes come with another cover? I wanted to order from bookdepository.com but the cover of the book shown on the website was different from the one sold on amazon. Can you please clarify my doubt as I would bery much love to order your book. Thanks! Happy easter!

    1. Lindsay

I can’t guarantee anything, because I’m not real familiar with that site. But I do know that there is another cover floating around. My publisher originally had a different photo being used prior to us choosing the cover. If it’s a grey background with a pink cake, it should be ok.

  24. Angeliki

I just received your book in Greece. I think i’m in heaven.
Keep doing what you’re doing, and we’ll keep follow your recipes.
    Best Wishes!!!

    1. Lindsay

I have shared a few cakes from the book on the site to promote the book, but otherwise the recipes in the book are all new/different.

  25. Elizabeth

Hi , i’m a big fan from Brazil. Pre-ordered the book online at amazon and allready receive it !!!! I’m veeery happy ! Question. I LOVE as you call your “Best chocolate cake ever recipe” ( always use it ) but i’ve just noticed that on the book you give as the best chocolate recipe a diferente one ! Whats the diference between them ?? Witch one do you Think is the best ??? Why???
Thanks a lot and big kiss frio Brazil
    Christiana

    1. Lindsay

Thanks so much – I hope you enjoy the book! I’d say the recipes are somewhat similar. I switched up the one in the book to bake at 350 degrees so the actual baking is a little different. I’d say the one in the book is a bit firmer, but they are both very moist and delicious. 🙂

  32. Sarah

My husband ordered a copy of your book for me as a surprise — it arrived today, just in time for the study break/soon to be Christmas holidays. I was absolutely thrilled! I love it, and I can’t wait to start trying recipes. It is truly a beautiful book — even my husband agreed that all your cakes are gorgeous pieces of art 🙂

    1. Lindsay
