Layered Red Velvet Cheesecake Bundt Cake

This Layered Red Velvet Cheesecake Bundt Cake is the perfect red velvet cake! Perfectly moist and tasty, the cheesecake swirl layered in it makes it even tastier! Red velvet + cheesecake = match made in heaven. But before I dive into the recipe, I must tell you about what happened when shopping with the hubs this weekend. Nothing ground breaking, but he always manages to surprise me - and make me laugh. :) We were running a marathon of errands. And no errand run would be complete without a trip to Target. Is it even possible to walk out of Target without buying something you didn’t go in planning to buy? Nope! Especially with that little section near the door where you can always find super cute sprinkles for $1. For once, I’d almost made it! BUT! As the hubs and I are walking through the … [Read more...]

Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting

Red Velvet cupcakes are a classic - especially with a delicious cream cheese frosting. And these cupcakes are super moist and stay that way for a number of days! I didn't really grow up eating red velvet cupcakes, despite growing up in the south. But the last few years, since diving into the sweets world, I've known a few people that are BIG fans. One them being a co-worker of mine. Last summer I think it was, we were in D.C. for work. We had some downtime and found ourselves on the same road where Georgetown Cupcakes and Sprinkles Cupcakes are. Being the crazy cake fan I am, I ended up with like 15 cupcakes to sample. I LOVE trying different flavors and comparing. And believe it or not, we hit the stores at just the right time - no lines! Seeing that I didn't grow up eating red velvet, I … [Read more...]

Soft and Chewy Eggnog Cookies

These Eggnog Cookies are fantastic. They are insanely soft and chewy and you need to make them. That is all. Ok that's not really all. I'm sure you need more than that to believe me, but it's true. Eggnog is one of my favorite holiday flavors. I love them all, but as soon as eggnog hits the store we start drinking it. We've been through more cartons than I can count and it's not from baking, except for these cookies. We're even picky about our brand of eggnog. They are not all the same. Our favorite is the Southern Comfort brand (it doesn't have alcohol in it already in case you're wondering). I have to make special trips out of the way to Wal-Mart to get it. Because of that, we've tried multiple other brands, but they just aren't the same. So I keep going out of my way for the good … [Read more...]

Peppermint Pretzel Crunch

This Peppermint Pretzel Crunch is covered in semi sweet chocolate, white chocolate and Andes Peppermint Crunch Pieces! It's a wonderful combo of sweet and salty and is a great snack mix for the holidays. It's also quick and easy to make - even better! Things have been pretty busy for us around here trying to get ready for the holidays. Trying to get the house decorated, all the shopping. There's never enough time! We finally got the Christmas tree decorated over the weekend when there was a break in all the rain we've been having. After getting it decorated - which is a very long process for me since I analyze the placement of every ornament like a crazy person - our tree literally fell over Monday night. Craziness! We were about to go to bed and I was getting all my stuff together to take … [Read more...]

Gingerbread Caramel Gooey Bars

These Gingerbread Caramel Gooey Bars might just be my favorite bars to date. They are so chewy and flavorful, it's hard to stop eating them. And with all the brown sugar, molasses and sweetened condensed milk in them they stay soft for no less than a week. Even though they won't last this long, I think they'd even be soft after two weeks. That's legit, my friends. My inspiration for these bars came from one of my favorite bloggers - Dorothy, from Crazy for Crust. When I saw her Pumpkin Toffee Gooey Bars I almost fell out of my chair. I knew I had to make a version myself and gingerbread seemed like the perfect way to go. I mean how do you make something gooey and delicious even gooier? Add molasses and caramels. Chewy city. You start out with a yellow cake mix. Nice and easy. It quickly gets sticky … [Read more...]

Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Cookies

These Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Cookies are some of my favorites! And with the cranberries, they are a perfect treat for the holidays. I have always loved this flavor of cookie, but the last time a made them was a couple years ago and they were from a mix (gasp!). I don't actually have anything against mixes, but I do like having control over just how perfectly my cookie tastes. I'm a control freak like that. ;) And these babies are just like I like them - full of cranberries and white chocolate, and soft and chewy. They're also pretty big cookies. The more, the merrier I say. And this is a merry time of year. And guess who was merry this weekend! Yes, I was. But mostly is was Jessie (our black lab). She turned 3 on Friday! I can't believe she's already 3. She'll always be my baby. :) I … [Read more...]

Peppermint Brownie Ice Cream Cake

This Peppermint Brownie Ice Cream Cake is out of this world! If you aren't quite ready for Christmas yet, this cake recipe will definitely put you in the mood for Christmas desserts. Particularly peppermint desserts. The ice cream is perfectly creamy and pepperminty. The peppermint crunch pieces add the right amount of crunch to the ice cream. And the texture of the chewy brownie is the perfect contrast to the creamy ice cream. Plus, the ice cream requires no ice cream machine. Rock on! Truthfully, I'm not quite sure that I'm totally ready for Christmas. It just doesn't *feel* like it yet. I mean, lets be real. It was 70 degrees in Atlanta on Sunday - 70! That's just not right for November. And to me, Christmas means cold weather and hot chocolate. But in terms of the Christmas spirit, I'm getting … [Read more...]

I’m honored to have been selected by Darden Restaurants to create a recipe inspired by the seasonal desserts at Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse. You guys! I am SO excited to share my first giveaway on the blog with you today! When I was asked to try the seasonal pumpkin desserts at Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Longhorn Steakhouse, I couldn't wait! The hubs went with me … [Read more...]

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Maple Cinnamon Cream Cheese Icing

I'm so excited to share my first pumpkin recipe of the season with you! These pumpkin cupcakes are so moist, wonderfully spiced and pumpkiny! And the icing is pure heaven. Cinnamon and maple compliment the pumpkin perfectly! If you've tried my carrot cake, this is actually a new version of that recipe. And that cake is awesome! My niece turns 10 in a couple weeks and it made it onto her birthday list (right behind the ipad and headphones :) ). It totally amazed me how my nieces absolutely loved that cake when I made it for Easter a couple years ago. They've never forgotten it either. And these cupcakes are just as tasty - but with pumpkin and instead of carrot, and a few other differences. And who doesn't love a good cream cheese icing? This one is a lighter cream cheese icing. I wanted a bit … [Read more...]

Peppermint Chocolate Cupcakes with Candy Cane Pop Rocks

I am SO excited to finally share these with you! I had to wait a whole 2 days for the sun to come back out so that I could get some good pictures. Two days may not seem like a lot, but when you are excited about something, it is FOREVER! :) Anyways, here they are - Peppermint Chocolate Cupcakes with Candy Cane Pop Rocks! Yay! They are soooo yummy!! And who doesn't love pop rocks? So much crackle and pop! When I saw the pop rocks in Michaels last weekend, I knew it was fate. My hubs had requested my peppermint chocolate cupcakes for Christmas. I was going to make them all cute with a red and white swirl icing. But then I saw the pop rocks! What better to sit atop my delicious cupcakes than that? So I forwent the red and white swirl and gave the pop rocks center stage to shine! I think they are … [Read more...]
