I Love Making This No Bake Dessert For Easter

Another holiday brings with it another wonderful and festive puppy chow (muddy buddies). This time it’s an Easter puppy chow! I love how easily puppy chow is changed up for different holidays and it’s always such a fun and delicious treat. And the hubs LOVES it! I always know when I make it that he won’t be far behind, waiting to run off with it.

And by the way, can you believe Easter is in March?!? It’s so early this year and it’s throwing me off. I keep thinking March is nice and calm – no big plans to make. But no, Easter is actually in 2 weeks! It’s crazy!

But let’s get back to this puppy chow… When I saw a bag of these Reese’s easter eggs in the store about a month ago I immediately bought a bag. Before I even made it home I was ripping into the bag. As soon as I tasted them I knew they needed to be made into something. They are amazing. I’ve had peanut butter M&Ms but I dare say these are better. Fabulous Reese’s peanut butter in every spring colored egg. It’s delightful. And in the name of research, I ate the whole bag. 🙂

What Other Ingredients Can I Use In This Puppy Chow Recipe?

So I made this puppy chow with my second bag. And to compliment the wonderful chocolate and peanut butter eggs, I actually made the original puppy chow. I tend to use colored candy melts for my puppy chow to add fun color, but these eggs are so pretty all on their own I decided to let the focus be on them. If you have trouble finding them in stores near you or already have peanut butter M&Ms on hand, feel free to use those. They are delicious too.

Description

Reese’s Easter Egg Puppy Chow is an easy, no bake dessert that is perfect for Easter and Spring. It’s made with classic peanut butter and chocolate muddy buddies, and colorful peanut butter Easter eggs!

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 10 oz chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 bag Reese’s easter eggs (or preferred easter candy)

Instructions

1. Put chex cereal into a large bowl.
2. Microwave chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl for about 1 minute. Stir.
3. Heat 30 seconds to a minute longer until mixture is fully melted and smooth.
4. Add chocolate mixture to cereal and stir to coat evenly.
5. Add powdered sugar and stir until evenly coated. Have patience and stir carefully to not break up the chex cereal too much.
6. Add Reese’s easter eggs. I used the whole bag (just under 2 cups) but you could start with 1 cup and add more from there.
