Frozen Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats
I’m switching things up a bit today with a different kind of recipe. This one is for our four legged doggy friends. However, despite the fact that I meant it for dogs, we humans could eat it too. In fact, you could eat it alongside your dog. The hubs does. 🙂
I decided to make these treats when I realized I’ve been posting all these great frozen summer treats – like the Mint Oreo Brownie Ice Cream Cake, Lemon Icebox Pie, and Snickers Peanut Butter Brownie Ice Cream Cake – and I’m leaving out my favorite furry friend – our sweet black lab, Jessie! She gets hot during the summer too! Maybe even more than we do! After all, she has lots of pretty, thick black hair.
We normally buy her frozen doggy ice cream treats at the grocery store. But after falling in love with the ease of One Ingredient Banana Ice Cream, I decided I could totally use that as the base for a really tasty and healthy dog treat. Plus, it’s cheaper to make myself. 🙂
And they are so easy to make. Once you’ve made your banana ice cream from frozen bananas, you add some peanut butter, then freeze. Does it get any easier?!
I topped mine off with a little doggie treat for decoration, but that’s totally optional. 🙂
The hardest part (for both of us!) was making her wait to eat them until after I’d taken pictures. She was waiting as patiently as she could but once she got it, it didn’t stand a chance.
I’d say she liked it. 🙂

Now I’m afraid of the peanut butter. How can I be sure it doesn’t have Xylitol in it? I don’t always believe labels. What brand do you use?

Love this recipes so much my dogs do too!!! Sometimes if I don’t feel like eating all those calories fat and sugar I just make some for myself. LOL. My dogs love it too I make it one every a week for them. And it seems like there weight is going down. This is such an amazing reciepe.❤️

I’ve been doing this for my dogs for years! They love it! I have been using ice cube trays though because one of my dogs was very small (she passed recently) it was a perfect serving. I simply mashed any bananas they did not eat and we’re getting to ripe with their favorite crunchy (creamy is fine) PB. Fill the trays and pop them in the freezer. You can put non stick cooking spray or use a napkin and a dab of cooking oil to line the tray for a much easier removal process and store them in a freezer bag! Nava loves fruit but I’ve yet to experiment with other blends. Such a great way to keep them cool in summer, super easy to make, and healthy! Glad someone else had this idea!
Ah, okay. I just wondered if there was perhaps some sort of thing that could only be achieved by pre-freezing, blending, and re-freezing. Like maybe it would effect the texture or consistency or something. My parents also have a lab and he’s maybe 60lbs whereas my pit bull and American bulldog are ~75lbs and ~95lbs respectively. I guess I’m just used to most people having smaller dogs than I do. Lol! That serving size ought to be just fine for these two. Better too little than too much, at least for my two. Neither looks like they’ve missed any meals, that’s for sure! ???? I’m hoping making them homemade might not only reduce the price but also the fat content.
