This Homemade Apple Pie is going to become your go-to apple pie recipe! It’s absolutely delicious, easy to prepare ahead of time, and bakes beautifully.
Be sure to refrigerate the prepared crust until you're ready to assemble the pie!
Peel, core and slice apples to about 1/8 inch thick and coat the slices in lemon juice.
Add the sugars, flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg to the apple slices and gently toss to coat them.
Pour the apple mixture into a large 5 quart skillet and cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes.
Remove the pan from heat and gently stir in the vanilla extract.
Spread the apple filling evenly into a sheet pan and refrigerate until completely cool.
When the apple filling is completely cool, evenly pour the filling into the pie crust.
Top the filling with the top of the pie crust. I did a lattice design, but feel free to decorate as you wish!
Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees on a preheated baking sheet. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for another 35-45 minutes.
Enjoy your Homemade Apple Pie! I add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to mine for the perfect treat!
