April 2015 Stitch Fix Review

I’ve got another Stitch Fix to share with you! Yay! This month I asked my stylist to send me some things for our trip to South Africa. From what I can tell with the weather, it’ll be in the 70s or 80s in the day and cooler in the evening. In my head, I picture it like the weather we had in Santa Barbara last month. At least I hope it’s like that. But before we look at everything…

What is Stitch Fix?
Well, basically it’s like having your own personal stylist. But better.

More specifically, it’s a monthly subscription (although you can set it to every other month too). When you sign up, you fill out a profile where you specify all kinds of things like sizes, price, shapes and styles you prefer, colors and patterns you prefer. You can make a pinterest board and link to that so that your stylist can get a feel for what you like. You basically want to provide as much detail as you can so that they can pick stuff to match your style.

Then you pick a date to have your box arrive. You’ll get 5 pieces. It can be clothing and accessories. You pay $20 a month to receive the box and if you decide to keep stuff, the $20 goes towards the purchase of your items. If you keep everything, you get 25% off – score! I’ve done that several times. Plus, if there’s a month that’s not so good and you don’t want a box, you can turn it off for a month – no penalty.

Once you get your box, you have 3 days to try everything on and decide what to keep. This part is my favorite, obviously. They even give you an awesome card that has suggestions on what to pair the items with! And they send you pre-paid envelope to put everything in to mail it back. Just pop in it the mailbox! You can give them feedback online about what you liked and didn’t like to help them send even better stuff in the next box. You can even request something specific.

I pinned a couple maxi dresses I saw from some other people’s fixes and a denim jacket and got both! Let’s check it all out…

Pixley Jakobe Chevron Print Maxi Dress – $78
I pinned this one to my style board. I love the colors and style of it so it was the first thing in my box I tried on. It was a no brainer. I kept it. I love the material. It’s light and soft, but a little nicer than a cotton. A great travel piece and great for summer.

Morrie Boyfriend Denim Jacket – $58
I pinned this one as well. I actually liked it even more in person. It’s a great addition to my wardrobe and it’ll be great for the cool nights that I think we’ll have in South Africa.

Tenessy Maxi Dress – $78
I pinned this one too. I was curious. It seemed very African-like to me, so I thought it’d be fun, but wasn’t sure about the pattern. Turns out I was right about the pattern. Kind of neat, but I didn’t feel like it really did anything for me. It went back.

Wide Cuff Catherine Boyfriend Cropped Jeans – Kut from the Kloth
I accidentally threw away the card that had the official name and price of these pants (oops!), but I’m pretty sure that name is close. 🙂 I was super excited to see these in my fix. Not only will they be great for the trip, but they are a perfect addition. I didn’t have any cropped denim pants. Love!

Lace Top
I also don’t have the correct name and price for this shirt, but here it is. While I like the idea of this top and I love lace, I have so many similar style tops to this that I decided it didn’t wow me enough to warrant keeping it. Plus, the lace was a print, not actual lace, which I didn’t like as much.

So the final results!

Pixley Jakobe Chevron Print Maxi Dress – kept
Morrie Boyfriend Denim Jacket – kept
Tenessy Maxi Dress – sent back
Cropped Pants – kept
Lace Top – sent back

All in all, it was a successful box! I got a few great things that I know I’ll love all summer, but will also be great for our trip. Sadly, I won’t get a box next month, since we’ll be gone for our trip. But I’ll get another when I get back and I already can’t wait! #StitchFixAddicted
