Conversation Heart Chocolate Bark

Conversation_Heart_Bark-featured

This Conversation Heart Chocolate Bark is a great, easy treat for Valentine's Day and it uses one of my favorite things about the holiday - conversation hearts. Is it just me, or is it hilarious that the little things the hearts say are all hip now with things like hashtags? Cracks me up. :) So lately I've been trying to be healthier. I got way off track over the holidays, with so much going on and so much good food. Now I'm eating better, working out harder and eating very little of what I'm baking. It's kind of sad to not eat as much of the yummy stuff I make, and yet I feel much better in general when I feel healthier. So much of healthy eating and working out for me is about how I feel. Sure, I care about my weight, probably too much, but I hate it even more when I don't feel good in my skin. … [Read more...]

Valentines Day Rice Krispie Treat Cupcakes

Valentines_Day_Rice_Krispie_Treat_Cupcakes-featured

These Valentine's Day Rice Krispie Treat Cupcakes are super cute to share for Valentine's Day! They are actually flavored with a strawberry cake mix, but you could use any flavor. The pink cake mix is what gives them their pretty color. They're topped with vanilla icing and a festive gummy heart. I'm in love with them! Can you believe Valentine's Day is just a few weeks away? There's not nearly as much prep as at Christmas, but I know some people and kids put quite a bit into it. I know I used to love getting my Valentines and candy together to give to my friends. I think if I were to pick out valentines right now, I'd go for the Disney princesses. I'm a lifelong fan. But as an adult, it's not nearly as fun. The hubs and I really don't do that much for it, but that's on purpose. We did more when … [Read more...]

Nutella Red Velvet Poke Cake

Nutella_Red_Velvet_Poke_Cake-featured

So if you haven't noticed yet, I'm a big fan of poke cakes. I love how easy they are and how they are soaked with yumminess and guaranteed to be moist for days. This Nutella Red Velvet Poke Cake is no exception. A delicious red velvet cake is soaked with a combination of sweetened condensed milk and Nutella and then topped with a Nutella whipped cream! So the other day, the hubs and I were driving home and my car beeped at us to remind us that my one of my tires was still low on air. The beeping had started weeks ago, but we hadn't done anything about it yet. The hubs found a gas station with an air pump thingy (do those have a word?) and proceeded to fill up the tire. Here's the conversation that ensued when he got back in the car: Hubs: "Man, you're tire was really low. Like 10 PSI low. … [Read more...]

Champagne Cupcakes

Champagne Cupcakes

These Champagne Cupcakes are super moist and full of champagne flavor! They’d be perfect For New Year’s Eve, or another special occasion. Well, this weekend was a great weekend. Our family slowly tapered off and made their way home, with my parents leaving today. We were busy bouncing around from activity to activity. My niece (she’s 8) played in a basketball game on Saturday morning. My brother is the coach and does a great job. My niece scored 10 of the team’s 13 points and they won the game! Then most everyone went to a movie, but my mom and I took the opportunity to do some returns and shopping. Some of our favorite times are when we are shopping. We have a great time together. Then Saturday night, my dad went back to my brother’s house with him family and my mom, the hubs and I went … [Read more...]

This Champagne Mousse is delicious, light and is flavored with Chambord as well as champagne. It's a perfect dessert for New Year's Eve! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Everything was pretty relaxed for us. We combined our families (the hubs' and I's) for the first time and it went great! As usual, there was lots of food, family and gift giving. We fit 7 people and 5 dogs into our four bedroom house. It was a madhouse! Then there was more family at my brother's house. There were a lot of us! My dad is totally a Christmas junkie, so Christmas morning always takes forever. He loves all the presents. Opening gifts takes forever because he likes to be able to see how everyone likes every gift, so we open each one at a time. Honestly, I love it too. It's great to see everything that … [Read more...]

Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream Pie

Chocolate_Cherry_Ice_Cream_Pie-featured

This Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream Pie is so delightful and refreshing. I absolutely love the sweet, light cherry flavor of the ice cream mixed with the chocolate. And to make it even better, it uses my new favorite baking morsels - Nestlé® Toll House® DelightFulls™ Baking Morsels! I'm so excited to share this recipe with you today. I've seen these DelightFulls Filled Baking Morsels in the store a number of times and I've been really excited to bake with them. I'm a big fan of Nestlé products in my baking and I love the idea of having two flavors combined into one amazing baking morsel. I used the dark chocolate cherry ones for this recipe, but there are also peanut butter, caramel and mint versions. It's awesome! Now instead of buying two kinds of morsels, you can buy one that combines both flavors. … [Read more...]

It was so nice to relax a little bit. I did a little shopping, trying to get some Christmas stuff done. I didn’t accomplish too much, but I did get some cute new Christmas ornaments and pieces for our nativity scene. We got delayed on getting our Christmas tree, which happened last year too, and we finally got it up last night. Our … [Read more...]

These Nutella Cheesecake Chocolate Cookie Cups have a soft, chewy chocolate cookie base and are filled with the creamiest no bake Nutella cheesecake. They are so delicious and the perfect little treat for sharing - or not. You might decide to keep them all to yourself, which is perfectly acceptable as well. :) So we just got back last night from spending a long weekend in Hilton Head, S.C. with my family. Hilton Head is an annual trip for us. We’ve been going since I was a kid and it holds so many memories for me. Even the hubs has been coming with my family since we were in college. It’s such a great beach for families - so clean and laid back. I look forward to hopefully being able to bring our kids to Hilton Head one day. Before we left yesterday, the hubs and I decided to spend as much time … [Read more...]

Raspberry Chocolate Cupcakes

Raspberry_Chocolate_Cupcakes-featured

These Raspberry Chocolate Cupcakes are a classic flavor combination! I used my favorite chocolate cupcake and topped it with a delicious raspberry icing that uses fresh raspberry puree. Delish! So you know how I mentioned last week that our air conditioning hasn't been up to par lately and we installed fans? Well we finally got someone out to the house yesterday to check things out. The hubs had a break from lessons and was able to be there, which was great. Turns out, we have a leak of the coolant, or whatever it's called, in the air conditioning unit. The good news is that it's still under warranty, so it can be replaced. The bad news is that he couldn't actually find where the leak was coming from and he has to find that before they can do whatever has to be done for the warranty. So … [Read more...]
