No Bake Sparkling Cranberry Orange Cheesecake

This No Bake Sparkling Cranberry Orange Cheesecake is the perfect holiday dessert. Cranberry and orange really do make the perfect flavor combination. The smooth, creamy orange cheesecake with the sweet but tart cranberries is to die for. If you've never tried these two flavors before, it's a must! Can you believe Thanksgiving is Thursday?! I can't even. My head is so not in that mode yet.Between all the baking for the cookbook and for the blog, I have cake on the brain. I was at the grocery store over the weekend getting baking ingredients (as I do most days) when I realized while walking through the meat department that there were turkeys in the section that normally has the ground beef. Then it hit me.Thursday! Thanksgiving is Thursday! And I need a turkey - like now. It has to thaw for … [Read more...]

Baklava Cheesecake

This Baklava Cheesecake is such a fun twist on the traditional Greek dessert. With all the flavors of cinnamon, honey and walnuts, it’s a fun way to mix together two delicious desserts into one!So if you follow on instagram or twitter, you may have noticed that I was at a food blogging conference over the weekend. It was a ton of fun! It was great to see old friends and meet new ones, and of course I always learn so much and leave feeling renewed.Well normally hotel sleeping is all good for me but this weekend I struggled a bit. See I wake up regularly at night to go to the bathroom. At least once, often twice. It’s annoying, but true. Well this weekend that didn’t go so well for me. There was a little piece of wall that you had to walk around to get from the beds to the bathroom and one night … [Read more...]

Milk Tart

Milk Tart (also known as Melktert) is a traditional South African dessert. The crust is a soft, cakey crust topped with a cinnamon infused milk custard. It is delicious and was one of my favorites that we tried on our trip.Back when the hubs and I went to South Africa in May to visit his family, I naturally tried all the traditional South African foods and desserts I could. Not only do I like to try new foods, but I’d heard the hubs talk about so many favorite foods he had as a kid and I was so curious to experience them with him.I found milk tart to be a very common dessert option. The first night we arrived, we stayed with the hubs’ aunt and uncle and they served on for dessert. I love cinnamon, so naturally I was a fan. We had it at a few other places we stayed too, so I was excited to try a … [Read more...]

Pumpkin Spice Donut Cheesecake Trifle

This Pumpkin Spice Donut Cheesecake Trifle is so fun for fall! Made with Pumpkin Spice Donuts from Dunkin' Donuts, it's super easy to put together and was a big hit!So this past weekend, the hubs and I went to the local fair with my brother and his family. We'd never been and it was pretty fun to go with them. My nieces had a lot of fun riding the rides and us adults got to eat the good fair food. :)You know the stuff I'm talking about. Funnel cakes, fried oreos (so good, by the way!) and a tower of sliced fries covered in cheese and bacon. That's the stuff that adult dreams are made of kids. Good, outrageously awesome food.I figure this trifle is somewhat similar in it's outrageous nature. I mean, it's layered with donuts. Legit, full on donuts. It's basically breakfast in dessert form. … [Read more...]

Cinnamon Streusel Pumpkin Coffee Cake

This Cinnamon Streusel Pumpkin Coffee Cake is the perfect fall breakfast! It's easy to put together, so moist and full of pumpkin - yes!I'm officially ready for fall flavors. Between the Pumpkin Butterscotch Chip Cookies I shared last week and now this coffee cake, it's fall on the blog, my friends. The cool temperatures are making dog-walking a much more enjoyable activity and pumpkin spice coffee in the morning has become a regular. The only thing that could make my mornings better is this coffee cake every time.I absolutely love the base of this coffee cake. I've used it for my Blueberry Streusel Coffee Cake and my Toffee Almond Coffee Cake and both were awesome. I altered it to this delightful pumpkin version.Because pumpkin is a natural leavener and adds a fair amount of moisture it … [Read more...]

Pumpkin Butterscotch Chip Cookies

These Pumpkin Butterscotch Chip Cookies are the perfect pumpkin cookie! I'm totally in love with how dense, moist and chewy they are and the butterscotch chips are the perfect compliment to them! You'll definitely want to make these over and over.So there are two things I don't recommend when going grocery shopping. The first one you've surely heard before - don't grocery shop hungry. That's a sure way to end up buying all the things. My cart ends up full of cookies, cakes and anything else that looks enticing when I'm hungry. No good. The next one, and more common for me, is to not grocery shop without a list. Seriously. It's like I'm totally lost in the grocery story without a list. I was at the store the other day and had forgotten what I'd needed to get. In addition, I needed to get a couple … [Read more...]

Real Deal Caramel Cake

This Real Deal Caramel Cake is just that - the real deal! And it's straight out of my friend Jocelyn's cookbook, Grandbaby Cakes!I could not be more excited to share this cake and cookbook with you today. First of all, the author is one of my favorites. Jocelyn's blog is wonderful and she is a gem. You won't meet anyone else who can light up a room like she does and keep you laughing. Love her. Plus, she's so real. I love that. And her realness totally shows in her cookbook which is full of stories about her family and growing up baking. Every recipe is so personal to her and it makes it not only fun to bake from, but fun to read too. She's largely influenced by her grandmother and the photos of her, her mom and her grandmother sprinkled throughout the book are absolutely beautiful. And then … [Read more...]

Apple Cinnamon Skillet Blondie

A spiced blondie filled with apples, baked and warm, topped with ice cream and more cinnamon apples. How does that sound? Well, I can tell you. This Apple Cinnamon Skillet Blondie is delicious. So this week we've got two dogs in the house. My brother's family's dog is staying with us and it's always pretty fun to have her. Jessie and her are from the same litter and spend a fair amount of time together. When they stay together they share water bowls, chew opposite ends of a bone, you name it. In fact, right now they are taking turns being the one to chew on a deer antler. The only kind of fighting they do it play fighting. When they dropped her off on Friday, my nieces found our furminator. For those that aren't familiar, it's sort of a brush that you use on dogs. I brush Jessie with it sometimes, … [Read more...]

Copycat Bojangles Cinnamon Biscuits

I have been so excited to share these Copycat Bojangles Cinnamon Biscuits with you! Those biscuits are some of my favorites of all time and being able to make them at home has made all my biscuit dreams come true! While that may seem a bit over-the-top, it’s for real. Bojangles is a fried chicken fast food restaurant, but sadly it’s only on the East Coast, primarily in the South. So while you may not have heard of it, if you are ever near one, you must try it - and get the fries! OMG! The best seasoning! And I’d tell you to also get the cinnamon biscuits, but sadly they got rid of them many years ago. :( :( :(My life was over on that sad, sad day. I almost boycotted right then and there. A soft, buttery, amazing biscuit soaked with a cinnamon filling and smothered in vanilla glaze icing? I … [Read more...]

Caramel Apple Cupcakes

These Caramel Apple Cupcakes are made with a spiced apple cupcake topped with caramel icing. They totally melt in your mouth and are the perfect use for all those apples! So please tell me I'm not the only one that has those moments where you say something totally dumb without meaning to. The hubs gives me a hard time about it pretty regularly. For example, recently we were driving over to the store and when we got to the parking lot he asked, "Where should I park?" To which I responded, "I don't know. I guess wherever there's an open spot."Now it may seem like I was being kind of a smartie there, but I wasn't. Something in my brain genuinely didn't connect and I was like, I don't know. Ha!Of course he knows me well enough to know I didn't mean it meanly and he laughed at me and said, … [Read more...]
