Buffalo Chicken Pizza

So it’s been a while since I posted a recipe that wasn’t full of sugar – my favorite ingredient. I decided it was time though.

This is a pizza that I actually make pretty often. It’s so easy to make and I LOVE buffalo sauce. We are actually pretty big fans of chicken wings – especially during football – but sometimes they are just kinda messy and I don’t really feel like going there. Also – I love pizza. Who doesn’t?

So a Buffalo Chicken Pizza just makes sense. It combines two great football foods – pizza and wings. I quite literally salivate just thinking about it.

And I’m actually quite picky about this kind of pizza. There is a sports bar near my parents called Big Al’s. It’s a fancy joint located in Cornelius, NC (Lake Norman area, north of Charlotte, NC). If you live in or near this area and you love buffalo like I do, this is a MUST TRY! It’s one of those things that we get pretty much every time we visit my parents. I’m not even joking. It’s kind of my thing. So when I go to other pizza places and try their version, it’s just not the same. I don’t even bother to try them anymore. But I do miss buffalo chicken pizza when I’m not visiting the parentals.

So I came up with my own version that I think is pretty darn close. It certainly satisfies the craving.

And just like I said – it’s easy. You could rough it up by making your own dough if you want. That would be cool. But I tend to go the easy route with certain things and this is one of them.

So back to the easy way – you get a store bought crust. You’ve got two choices – original and whole wheat. To health it up a bit, I usually get whole wheat. Still fantastic.

Combine some ranch (or blue cheese if you prefer) and buffalo sauce. I’ve made it with hot wing sauce before, but the hubs can’t handle the heat. :) So since I’m an awesome wife, I went and found him an “Extra Mild” buffalo sauce and have been using that. Again, still fantastic.

Slather that fantastic sauce all over your crust. You could go a little light on the sauce if you aren’t a big sauce person. I put it all on though. Then add the cheese and chicken. Bake for 8-10 minutes and go to town on that sucker.

This would be perfect for the Super Bowl viewing that will be happening soon. Mmmmmmm, buffalo sauce and cheese!

  1. I love buffalo chicken EVERYTHING! This looks amazing Lindsay! I’m hungry for some for lunch right now. :)

  2. Great recipe, it’s very similiar to a recipe I found called “buffalo chicken garbage bread” using the pizza crust only with the the garbage bread you roll everthing up in the pizza crust. I was afraid that if we made like pizza it would be too soggy but it turned out great for you!! This looks yummy next time we’ll try it as pizza instead!!
